Automating Data Backup with Empress Dropbox Feature

The Dropbox Backup Feature in Empress is designed to help you manage and maintain your data in a simple, secure way. This feature streamlines the process of backing up your data, allowing you to store copies of your data in Dropbox automatically. This is an essential function for any business, ensuring your valuable information is always safe and can be restored if needed.

Setting Up Automated Database Backups to Dropbox

Note: If you’re using Empress Cloud, your data is already being backed up automatically.

To set up this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Dropbox Developer Area: Navigate to the Dropbox Developer section.

  2. Create a New Dropbox App: Click on the “Create new” button and fill in the necessary details for your new app.

  3. Insert your Custom Domain Redirect URI: Enter your domain’s Redirect URI.

  4. Open the Dropbox Settings Page in Empress: In a new window, go to the Dropbox Settings page within Empress.

  5. Set Backup Frequency and Email: Decide how often you want your data backed up to Dropbox and set this frequency in Empress.

  6. Input Keys from Your Dropbox App: From your Dropbox App page, enter the app key and the app secret into the Empress Dropbox settings page.

  7. Save Your Settings: Click Save to ensure your changes are stored.

  8. Allow Dropbox Access: Click on “Allow Dropbox Access.” You may need to allow pop-ups for your Empress account to do this.

  9. Confirm Dropbox Access: After successfully logging in, click on “Allow” to grant your Empress account access to your Dropbox account.

  10. Confirm Backups are Working: From the Empress Dropbox page, click Take Backup Now and then check your Dropbox files. You should see a new folder named Apps, containing backup folders for both files and the database.
