Introduction
Welcome to this user-friendly guide on setting up a new site with Empress Cloud. By the end of this guide, you’ll be able to create, customize, and manage your business’s online presence with ease.
1. Getting Started
To kick off your site creation process, start by clicking on the Sites tab located on your dashboard. From there, select the New Site option to initiate the setup.
2. Name Your Site
Next, you’ll need to choose a unique hostname, or “subdomain”, for your site. This will be the address that customers type into their browser to access your site. It should be memorable and relevant to your business. This subdomain can include any combination of lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, but it can’t start or end with a hyphen.
3. Choose Your Version
Once you’ve chosen your hostname, you’ll need to select the version of Empress Cloud you’d like to use. Available options are Version 12, Version 13, and Nightly (cutting-edge).
4. Install Apps
In this step, you can choose the apps you’d like installed on your site. The Empress app will be installed by default, but you can choose to add more if you wish. These can be added at a later stage as well.
5. Migrate an Existing Site
If you’re upgrading or moving from an existing site, Empress Cloud makes it easy to migrate your data. Follow the prompts to upload backups and migrate your existing site.
6. Select a Plan
Next, you’ll need to choose the plan that best suits your business needs. Empress Cloud offers a range of flexible options to cater to businesses of all sizes.
7. Creation Time
After you’ve completed these steps, Empress Cloud will begin creating your site. This process may take a few seconds, depending on the number of apps you’ve chosen to install and the size of your backup files.
8. Access Your New Site
Once your site is ready, you can access it by clicking on the Visit Site button at the top of the page.
9. Finalize Your Setup
After your site has been created, you’ll be prompted to complete the site setup wizard. Following this step-by-step guide will ensure that your site is configured correctly. Note that data analytics will only begin to be collected once this setup process is complete.
Note: For security reasons, all sites on Empress Cloud are only accessible via HTTPS.
