Creating and Exporting Financial Reports with Empress

Introduction

Welcome to our guide on how to generate, understand, and export financial reports in Empress. Financial reporting is fundamental to business operations, and Empress makes it easy to create and interpret these reports. Let’s walk through this process together.

Overview: Financial Reports in Empress

Empress provides four key financial reports, each produced using the General Ledger Entries created when a Transactional Entry happens. These reports include:

  1. General Ledger
  2. Profit and Loss
  3. Balance Sheet
  4. Trial Balance

Each report serves a specific purpose and offers different insights into your financial status, empowering you to make informed business decisions.

Understanding Report Sections

Every report generated in Empress is divided into two main parts:

  1. Filter Section
  2. Report Section

The Filter Section

The Filter Section is where you can set parameters such as the Date Range for the report you want to generate.

How to Set Filters

To generate a report after setting a filter, just click anywhere outside the filter box. Empress will automatically apply the filter and generate the report based on your selected criteria.

The Report Section

The Report Section shows the report generated based on the filters you’ve set.

For the General Ledger report, a paginator is available at the bottom of the page. This feature allows you to view specific sections of the report at one time, enhancing readability and navigation.

How to Export a Report

Empress allows you to export any report as a CSV or a JSON file. To do this, click on the blue ‘Export’ button and select the desired file path.

After exporting the report, you can open it in any software you prefer, such as LibreOffice Calc, Google Sheets, or Microsoft Excel, for further analysis or to manipulate the data.
