Accessing the Item Group Feature

To access the Item Group feature, follow the path:

Home > Stock > Items and Pricing > Item Group

Creating an Item Group

Follow these simple steps to create a new Item Group:

  1. Navigate to the Item Group list and click on New.
  2. Choose a group node where you wish to create the new Item Group. By default, the root is ‘All Item Groups’.
  3. Click on ‘Add Child’ or the New button.
  4. If you want this child to be a category/group node, tick on the Group Node option.
  5. Click on Create New.

Deleting an Item Group

If there’s an Item Group you no longer need, you can easily delete it:

  1. Select the Item Group you wish to delete.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm by clicking Yes.

Features of the Item Group

The Item Group feature offers a range of settings to customize and manage your inventory. To access these options, select an Item Group and click on Edit.

Changing Parent Item Group

Under General Settings, you can modify the parent Item Group of an item by selecting a different one.

Setting Defaults

This section allows you to establish default settings for the Item Group:

  • Default Price List: Set a default price list to determine Item Prices for the group.
  • Default Warehouse: Assign a default warehouse for all transactions involving items in this group.
  • Default Buying/Selling Cost Center: Define a default Cost Center for billing items in this group.
  • Default Expense/Income Account: Select default accounts for items in this group.
  • Default Supplier: Specify a default supplier for purchase transactions involving items in this group.

Item Tax

You can apply a default item tax template to all items in this group. You can also select a Tax Category.

Website Settings

Website settings enable you to manage how items in this group appear on your website:

  • Show in Website: Choose to display items from this group on your website.
  • Weightage: Assign a weight to the Item Groups. Those with higher weights will appear first.
  • Slideshow: Set up a slideshow for the Item Group.
  • Description: Add a short description for the Item Group.
  • Website Specifications: Add a label and description for an item group.
