Efficient Shareholder Management with Empress

Introduction

A Shareholder is an individual, company or institution that owns at least one share of a company’s stock. As a shareholder, you stand to gain from the company’s successes through an increase in stock value and also bear the risk of losses if the company’s stock value decreases.

In Empress, we have a comprehensive system to help you keep track of all your shareholders, along with maintaining Share Transfers, Share Ledgers, and Share Balances. Each shareholder is uniquely identified by a Shareholder ID, which typically starts with ‘ACC-SH-’. As soon as a shareholder makes a transaction, they are assigned a unique Folio number.

Accessing the Shareholder List

To view your list of shareholders, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Home.
  2. Select Accounting.
  3. Choose Share Management.
  4. Click on Shareholder.

Adding a New Shareholder

To add a new shareholder to your list in Empress, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Shareholder list and click on New.
  2. Type in the name of the new shareholder.
  3. Fill in the shareholder’s Address and Contact details.
  4. Click Save.

You should note that a shareholder only gains access to features within the Share Transfer process after shares have been issued to them. After shares are issued, their Folio Number and shares will be visible in the system.

Adding Contacts and Addresses

In Empress, Contacts and Addresses are stored separately. This allows you to attach multiple contacts or addresses to shareholders and other parties as needed.

Important Information

A shareholder will only become a participant in the Share Transfer process after shares are issued to them. Their Folio Number and shares will be visible in the system only after this issuance.

Efficient shareholder management is important for smooth operation of your company’s share management process. Empress provides all the necessary tools and functionalities to make this process easy and effective for you.
