One of the advantages of Empress is that you can set up multiple GoCardless payment gateways, according to your business requirements. The chosen payment gateway account will be used for the payment.
Once you’ve enabled GoCardless, Empress will automatically create a Payment Gateway record and an Account head in the chart of accounts, with the account type set as Bank. Furthermore, a payment gateway account will also be created. If necessary, you can modify the default bank account and create a template for the payment request.
With your Payment Gateway Account configured, your system is now ready to accept online payments via GoCardless.
Processing SEPA Payments
For Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) payments, customers will be asked to input their International Bank Account Number (IBAN) or local account number and validate a SEPA mandate.
Once the mandate is validated, a payment request will be sent to GoCardless for processing. If a customer already has a valid SEPA mandate, the process is even more streamlined: the payment request is directly sent to GoCardless, and the customer is notified via email that the payment has been processed.
Managing Mandate Cancellation
To manage cancelled or expired mandates effectively, you can set up a Webhook in GoCardless. This tool will automatically disable these mandates in Empress.
Ensure that you configure your Webhooks Secret Key in your GoCardless account settings in Empress to enable this functionality.
