Mastering Sales Targets Assignment and Tracking in Empress

Introduction

Welcome to our comprehensive guide on Sales Person Assignment and Target Allocation. In the Empress system, you have the ability to manage your sales team by assigning sales targets based on Item Group and Territory. This feature also provides a detailed Target Variance Report for each Sales Person, showing the gap between assigned targets and actual sales. This guide will guide you through the entire process, from assigning targets to viewing reports.

Step 1: Assigning Targets to a Sales Person

To get started, you’ll need to access the specific Sales Person’s master record. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to Selling > Sales Partners and Territory > Sales Person.
  2. Click on the Edit button to open the Sales Person’s record.

In the Sales Person’s record, you’ll find a section called ‘Sales Person Targets’. Here, you can assign targets based on Item Group, Fiscal Year, Territory, Target Quantity, Target Amount, and Target Distribution. The system will calculate the target for all Item Groups or all Territories if you leave the respective fields blank.

Step 2: Distributing the Target

Empress allows you to distribute the target across several months. To create a new monthly distribution, simply click on the Target Distribution field in the Targets table.

Step 3: Viewing the Sales Person Target Variance Report

After assigning and distributing targets, you can view the Target Variance Report by navigating to:

Selling > Other Reports > Sales Person Target Variance

This report shows the difference between the target and the actual performance of the Sales Person. Please ensure the Sales Person is linked to a Sales Order in the Sales Team section of the Sales Order to guarantee accurate reporting.

Step 4: Assigning Territory-wise Targets

For a more granular approach to target allocation, you can assign targets based on Territories. To do this:

  1. Navigate to Selling > Settings > Territory.
  2. Select the specific Territory you want to assign targets for.
  3. In the selected Territory, select a Territory Manager in the field linked to the “Sales Person” master.

The process for target allocation in the Territory master is identical to the one in the Sales Person master.

You can view a Territory Target Variance Item Group-wise Report that shows the variance between the target and actual performance of sales in a particular territory, just like the Sales Person Target Variance Report.

Step 5: Creating a New Monthly Distribution

If your products or services are seasonal, you can distribute the sales target accordingly with the Monthly Distribution document.

  1. Navigate to Accounting > Monthly Distribution.
  2. Follow the prompts to spread allocated targets across multiple months.

You can link this Monthly Distribution while allocating targets in both the Sales Person master and the Territory master.

Conclusion

The Sales Person Assignment and Target Allocation feature in Empress is an invaluable tool for managing your sales team. It allows you to assign and track sales targets in a systematic and organized way, providing you with detailed reports to monitor performance. By effectively using this feature, you can drive sales efficiency and productivity in your business.
