Introduction

Welcome to the Empress Site Performance Monitoring and Optimization guide. This guide aims to guide you through the process of leveraging Empress Cloud’s built-in features to keep track of your site’s performance and optimize it for better business outcomes. The features we will cover are essential for maintaining a smooth, efficient, and responsive website, which is key in providing excellent customer experiences and achieving your business goals.

Understanding Empress Site Performance Features

Empress Cloud collects and stores a wealth of data as your site operates, enabling you to closely monitor its performance. This data includes Request Logs, Site Logs, CPU Time, and more. You can access this data through the Analytics and Site Logs tabs in the Empress interface.

Analytics

Under the Analytics tab, you’ll find six charts that provide a comprehensive view of your website’s performance:

  1. Requests: This chart shows the number of requests your site receives per minute, giving you an idea of your site’s traffic patterns.
  2. CPU Usage: This chart illustrates how much of your site’s CPU is being used, indicating how hard your server is working.
  3. Background Jobs: This chart shows the number of processes running in the background, providing insights into your website’s operations beyond user interactions.
  4. Background Jobs CPU Usage: This chart shows how much CPU is being used by the background jobs, helping you identify any processes that might be consuming too much resources.
  5. Usage Counter: This chart is a cumulative record of the CPU usage of requests, helping you track your resource usage over time. It also includes a Daily CPU Time Limit line, which can help you decide when it’s time to upgrade your plan.
  6. Uptime: This chart shows the uptime of your website, enabling you to ensure that your site is always available to your customers.

Please note, these analytics are only available after you’ve completed the Setup Wizard.

Site Logs

In the Site Logs tab, you’ll find a series of log files. Each process in your website generates these logs, providing invaluable insights into the performance and potential issues of your site. The logs include:

  • scheduler.log
  • frappe.web.log
  • frappe.log
  • web.log

By reviewing these logs, you can identify any issues that might be affecting your website’s performance and take corrective action.

Monitoring and optimizing your Empress site’s performance is crucial for providing a smooth and efficient user experience. By making the most of the Analytics and Site Logs features, you can gain a deep understanding of how your site operates, identify potential issues, and make informed decisions to optimize its performance.
