Remember, your email and password will serve as your admin account credentials, so keep them safe!
Connecting to Your Database
Next, the Setup Wizard will prompt you for your database credentials. This information is crucial for Empress Insights to connect to your database and start analyzing your data.
Don’t worry if you don’t have these details on hand. Empress Insights offers a demo database for you to explore in the meantime.
To connect to your database, you’ll need the following details:
- Hostname: This is where your database is hosted. If it’s hosted on your local machine, you can leave this field blank.
- Port: This refers to the specific gate through which your database can be accessed. If you’re using the default port, you can leave this field blank.
- Database Name: Enter the name of your database here.
- Username: This is the username associated with your database. Ideally, this user should have read-only access to the database to protect your data.
- Password: Finally, enter the password associated with your database username.
Protecting Your Data with SSL
If you’re connecting to a remote database, Empress Insights recommends keeping SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) enabled. This feature encrypts your data as it travels between your database and Empress Insights, ensuring your data remains secure.
Exploring with Demo Data
If you’ve chosen to use the demo database, please note that setup might take a little longer, usually around three minutes. This additional time allows Empress Insights to fully load the demo data for your exploration.
