The Work Order Feature is a tool that allows you to create individual work orders for items you plan to manufacture. With this feature, you can:

  • Specify the Production Item to manufacture
  • Determine the Quantity required
  • Set up Warehouses for raw materials and finished goods
  • Plan Operations and estimate their costs
  • Track Material Requests and associated sales orders

Using the Work Order Feature

Creating a Work Order

To create a new Work Order:

  1. Navigate to the Work Order section in Empress.
  2. Click on the New button.
  3. In the Item To Manufacture field, select the item you plan to produce.
  4. Specify the Quantity to be produced.
  5. Set up your Warehouses. Assign a Source Warehouse for raw materials and a Target Warehouse for storing the finished product.
  6. Define the Operations required for the manufacturing process.
  7. Click on Save to create the work order.

Editing a Work Order

To edit an existing Work Order:

  1. Navigate to the Work Order section.
  2. Select the Work Order you want to edit.
  3. Make the necessary changes in the relevant fields.
  4. Click on Save to update the work order.

Tracking a Work Order

To track the status of a Work Order:

  1. Navigate to the Work Order section.
  2. Select the Work Order you want to track.
  3. The Status field will show the current status of the Work Order.

Sorting Work Orders

To sort Work Orders:

  1. Navigate to the Work Order section.
  2. Click on the Sort button.
  3. Select the parameter by which you want to sort the Work Orders (e.g., Status, Item To Manufacture, Quantity, etc.).

User Roles and Permissions

The Work Order feature is accessible to users with the Manufacturing User role. Users with the Stock User role can view and generate reports on Work Orders, but cannot create or edit them.
