Introduction to Workstation Type

A Workstation Type in Empress is a classification for the various workstations you have in your manufacturing setup. By assigning types to your workstations, Empress can automatically distribute tasks to the appropriate workstation based on its type. This feature is particularly useful if you have multiple workstations of the same type.

Step 1: Creating a Workstation Type

To create a new Workstation Type, follow the steps below:

  1. From the home screen, navigate to Manufacturing.
  2. Click on Workstation Type.

Once you’ve created the Workstation Type, you’ll need to assign it to the respective Workstation. It’s also important to set the Workstation Type to the corresponding Operation in the Bill of Materials (BOM).

Step 2: Assigning the Workstation Type

To set the Workstation Type for a specific Workstation, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Manufacturing from the home screen.
  2. Click on Workstation, then Add Workstation.
  3. Select the created Workstation Type from the dropdown menu.

Next, you’ll need to assign the Workstation Type to an Operation in the BOM.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. From the home screen, navigate to Manufacturing.
  2. Click on Workstation, then Add BOM.
  3. Select the created Workstation Type for the respective Operation from the dropdown menu.

Step 4: Verification

Once you’ve set up the Workstation Type, when you create a Work Order with Operations, Empress will generate Job Cards for each Operation and automatically assign the available Workstation based on the Workstation Type defined in the BOM.
