Introduction

Welcome to our user-friendly guide on how to tailor Empress settings to suit the unique needs of your business. This guide will walk through the process of adjusting General, Default, Print, and System settings in a straightforward, easy-to-understand manner.

Introduction

Empress offers a wide array of customizable settings to streamline and enhance your business operations. From setting accounting defaults to customizing invoice print views, Empress provides the tools you need to create an efficient, personalized business experience.

Accessing Empress Settings

To kick things off, navigate to the settings area of Empress by following this path on the sidebar: Setup > Settings.

Within the settings area, you’ll find several tabs:

  • General: This is where you can modify accounting defaults and turn on/off specific features.
  • Defaults: Set preselected preferences for quicker entry creation.
  • Print: Adjust the look and feel of your invoice Print View.
  • System: Change System defaults like currency and date format.

Inventory Settings

Please note, if you’ve enabled the inventory feature, you’ll see an additional tab for Inventory Settings.

Diving into General Settings

In the General Settings tab, you can tailor your accounting defaults. Some information, like your full name, company name, country, and bank name, can’t be changed here — these were set during the initial Setup Wizard process.

However, you can adjust the following:

  • Fiscal Year Start and End Dates: Define the start and end dates for your fiscal year.
  • Write Off Account: Select the account used for Write Off amounts during payment.
  • Round Off Account: Choose the account that balances credit and debit differences when updating the General Ledger.
  • Enable Discount Accounting: If you want to offer discounts on invoices, turn on this feature.
  • Enable Inventory: Turn on inventory management features here.

Setting your Defaults

In the Defaults tab, you can set preselected values for quicker data entry. You’ll be able to change these defaults during entry creation if needed. Set your defaults for things like:

  • Accounts for automatic payments.
  • Locations for automatic stock transfers.
  • Number series for transaction entries.
  • Terms for specific transaction entries.
  • Print templates for printing entries.

Customizing Print Settings

The Print tab allows you to customize the Print View of your invoices. You can also make these adjustments directly from the Print View of an invoice.

Adjusting System Settings

Finally, the System tab lets you customize display values such as currency and time format. Here’s what you can adjust:

  • Date Format: Choose how dates are displayed.
  • Hide Get Started: If you want to hide the ‘Get Started’ section from the sidebar, toggle this on.
  • Version: You can view the current version of Empress here. This is a read-only field.
  • Locale: Set the currency format. The default locale of your selected country is used.
  • Display Precision: Define how many digits appear after the decimal.
  • Currency: Choose the currency for all transactions.

Keep in mind that the ‘Get Started’ section is automatically hidden once you’ve completed all sections.
